Growing list of schools using Ubuntu

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Education/UbuntuSchools

In case you ever doubt that your work is making a difference, just take a look at this growing list of schools using Ubuntu and its derivatives. And an entire project of kids building their own machines to take home and use after completing class – impressive!

Feel free to add other schools and learning projects you know about.

  3. I came across this topic in the Ubuntu Weekly newsletter #212.

I looked over the list and thought that many more could be on this list.

How do you suggest these be identified?

    • We’re asking folks to self-identify and some I’ve found through news articles. If you have suggestions on ways to identify schools to add to the list, I’d love to hear them!

  4. Hi,
I donated a Linux computer with a nice flat screen to my daughter’s class last year. One of the kids is now serious about becoming an astrophysicist after playing with Stellarium and Marble. The teacher was impressed and installed Edubuntu on all the computers he could get his hands on with discs I provided him. He is now actively promoting Linux in the school. I hesitate to send him the link above though, because the page is not very user-friendly or good looking. Such a list deserves a great design and hosting on the Edubuntu website, IMHO. It could become an excellent promotion tool, with a direct link from the Edubuntu homepage main menu and a global counter for “registered” machines ;o)
Registering on the list would be gratifying and fun for users. They would also get to know the website, with info about new versions and Community tools.

    The school list could include:
    – School ID fields (Name, Country, Town, Website)
    – First install date
    – Number of computers at last update
    > preferably multiple lines with installed versions
    (including other Linux flavors)
    – Date of last update
    – Comments from users (multiple boxes?)
The school list could also be kept light and expand to individual “School profiles” with further details about OS versions and user comments.

    Thanks for this space!

    • Please add one laptop (Ubuntu 10.04) for 19 students in Maria Regina College, St. Paul’s Bay Primary School, Malta, Europe.

  5. I would love to add to the UbuntuSchools list (we have 120 Ubuntu computers at our school), but I can see no “edit” link on the page (and yes, I did login!). I tried Chrome and IE, but still no edit link. Am I missing something?
